Traveossa Joins Uganda’s First-Ever Rhino Naming Ceremony

On 22 September 2025, Uganda made history by hosting its first-ever Rhino Naming & Friending Ceremony at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The event marked a milestone in conservation, celebrating the naming of 17 rhino calves and juveniles (2021–2024) under the Name a Rhino campaign—a five-year initiative aiming to raise USD 11 million to expand habitats, strengthen anti-poaching, fund veterinary care, and support future reintroductions to protected areas such as Ajai Wildlife Reserve.

High-Profile Attendance
The ceremony was presided over by the Minister for Public Service on behalf of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, with dignitaries including Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahenduka (State Minister of Tourism, Wildlife & Antiquities), Dr. James Musinguzi (Executive Director, Uganda Wildlife Authority), Juliana Kagwa (CEO, Uganda Tourism Board), ambassadors from Kenya, the UK and the US, and cultural leaders from Lango and Baluri.

Traveossa’s Role & Recognition
Traveossa was formally recognized as an organization that has “befriended a rhino,” receiving a hand-crafted rhino keepsake as a symbol of our ongoing commitment to responsible tourism and wildlife conservation. Our participation strengthens Traveossa’s growing presence in Uganda across accommodation, travel and rental services.

Key Takeaway
The Rhino Naming Ceremony highlights the powerful intersection of conservation, tourism, and property ownership—pillars at the heart of Traveossa’s aggregator platform and our work with partners in Uganda.
